“Let food be thy medicine and thy medicine be thy food”

The Bad News About Food

Sadly, most foods consumed today are over processed, refined and of poor quality. Many of our foods have been treated with herbicides, pesticides and other chemicals used in processing and packaging. Because of our need to eat something quick and easy to prepare, Americans purchase a lot of prepackaged, prepared foods. These foods have been stripped of their healthy nutrients.  Twenty-five percent of Americans eat some form of fast food every day. As a nation, we are overfed but undernourished due to our food choices.  Because of these choices, our bodies have become depleted of the essential vitamins and minerals they require to maintain health and wellness.

The Good News About Nutrition

It is my opinion that the foundation to health is good nutrition. It is very important to detect any nutritional deficiencies within the body as early as possible, so they can be replenished with quality supplements. I believe that by balancing the body nutritionally, the body has the innate ability to heal itself, return to wellness and to perform at its very best.

Nutritional Response Testing

I use a variety of advanced muscle testing techniques for the Nutritional Response Testing (NRT) to identify nutritional deficiencies and evaluate your nutritional needs. These techniques provide me with the ability to create a whole food and/or herbal supplement plan customized to your unique nutritional needs. It is not a “one supplement fits all” plan.

Throughout your journey to better health, retesting evaluations will be necessary at specific intervals to monitor and assess your progress; and if necessary, to adjust your personalized nutritional protocol in keeping with your health goals.

The goal of NRT along with a personalized nutritional supplement plan is:

  • To restore nutrients that your body currently does not have or is deficient in, which may alleviate unwanted and unexplained symptoms
  • To support the musculoskeletal system
  • To remove unwanted toxicities.

Why Should You Be Tested?

Nutritional deficiencies or imbalances can produce any number of symptoms. These deficiencies and imbalances can be corrected. To help determine if you are experiencing any symptoms that may be caused by a nutritional deficiency, please complete the “Systems Survey Form”. If you marked anything other than “0,” please call our office for a Functional Nutrition appointment. I will review the Systems Survey Form with you to come up with a nutritional supplement plan to improve your health.

Early intervention with nutrient-packed, good nutritional supplements has the ability to prevent and manage a variety of health issues. This is important because our bodies are bombarded on a daily basis by bacteria, molds, viruses, yeasts, chemicals, air and water pollutants and plastics. Also items we use on a daily basis can be toxic to our bodies. Some of these include soaps, cleaning supplies, detergents, perfumes and antiperspirants. Additionally, chronic stress negatively impacts our bodies and can deplete essential vitamins and minerals that our bodies require.

Prescribed medications can also deplete essential vitamins and minerals in your body. So, if you are taking prescription medication, it is important to support your body nutritionally to restore those depleted or deficient vitamins and minerals your body needs. For a list of medications that may cause vitamin and mineral deficiencies, please review the handout, Drugs That Gobble Up Vitamins.

Examples of people who have sought and experienced the benefits of NRT with me are:

  • Individuals who want to strengthen and maintain a healthy immune system
  • Individuals who want to decrease musculoskeletal pain and inflammation naturally
  • Individuals with a stressful lifestyle
  • Adults and children that eat processed foods, fast foods or take out on a regular basis
  • Athletes to increase and maintain energy, endurance and strength
  • Seniors who want to restore nutrients lost in prescribed medications and poor diet
  • Individuals who want to remove environmental and diet toxins

Hair Mineral Analysis

Hair Mineral Analysis is another nutritional service offered to our patients. Hair Mineral Analysis is a helpful tool in determining if you are not only eating well; but more importantly, what your body is actually digesting and absorbing. Hair Mineral Analysis is able to capture a three-month window of nutritional data about your individual body!

Mineral Hair Analysis is done by sending a small hair sample to a laboratory for analysis. Once analyzed, a detailed report is issued specific to your body’s unique mineral profile. This report will also include any heavy metal toxicities you may have.

From the results of the Mineral Hair Analysis, a personalized whole food supplement protocol will be recommended to restore and balance your specific areas of mineral deficiencies.

Please refer to our blog titled, “Utilizing Hair Mineral Analysis” to identify nutritional deficiencies for a more detailed description of the topics outlined in the report plus additional information on the Hair Mineral Analysis test.

Whole Food and Herbal Supplements

Many over-the-counter supplements are synthetic and include colors, fillers and additives. The body is unable to recognize and absorb many of these supplements; therefore, they provide no nutritional value to the body.

That is why I offer high-quality whole food supplements and herbal products. These supplements are made from real “whole foods” and high-quality herbs. When ingested, they are easily recognized, absorbed, and utilized by the body. With the belief that whole foods provide the best nutrition, I believe that these supplements will supply your body with what it needs to restore wellness and prevent injury or illness.
